Pioneering Ideals
We live ‘Out West’ and still believe in many pioneering ideals. People came here because they could envision something better and were willing to work hard for it. People still come for that reason. Out West, we are hard-working folk who understand the-buck-stops-with-us. We are responsible for what we create – at every level.
“The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast, and you miss all you are traveling for.” — Louis L’AmourSuccessful innovators and pioneers have many of the same characteristics, behaviors, and mindset. They are both adept at visionary thinking, willing to enter into unknown territory, and are persistent as well as willing to pay attention and adapt.
Both innovators and pioneers are optimistic (or determined) enough to know they will solve all the problems that face them as they enter into new territory. Both are also simultaneously pessimistic (or realistic) enough to see there is no known path into this frontier.
These contradictory traits are important. They keep both pioneers and innovators humble before problems yet bold enough to face everything head on.
