Scott Burr is an now an ASME Fellow (2011):

The ASME Committee of Past Presidents confers the Fellow grade of membership on worthy candidates to recognize their outstanding engineering achievements. Nominated by ASME Members and Fellows, an ASME Member has to have 10 or more years of active practice and at least 10 years of active corporate membership in ASME.

Less than 3.5% of ASME members had achieved this honor at the time of the award.

Scott Burr is a recipient of the ASME Dedicated Service Award in 2009:

 It honors unusual dedicated voluntary service to the Society marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, prolonged and committed service, devotion, enthusiasm and faithfulness. The award may be presented to selected individuals who have served the Society for at least ten years in one or more of the following areas: Standards and Certification; Public Affairs & Outreach; Knowledge & Community; Student & Early Career Development , Board of Governors; Institutes; ASME Foundation; and The ASME Auxiliary, Inc.

Less than 0.5% of ASME members had achieved this honor at the time of the award.
